The Nativity and Adoration of the Shepherds The stained glass windows are by Nicola D'Ascenzo. Born in Italy in 1871, he immigrated to Philadelphia when he was 21, and resided there until his death in 1954. There is stained glass by D'Ascenzo throughout the United States, most notably at the National Cathedral in Washington and at Riverside Church in New York.

On the side walls of the church there are ten 2-panel windows at floor level, and directly above them, ten 3-panel windows in the clerestory. (See the church's exterior further down the page.) Six of the ten 2-panel windows appear above, two of them individually and the other four in pairs. The paired groupings may be viewed at a higher magnification by clicking the plus sign that appears in the lower right when the cursor passes over the image. All the 2-panel windows depict events in the life of Christ.
Three of the 3-panel windows also focus on the life of Christ, two of them portray parables of Christ, and the remaining five depict prominent Old Testament figures. D'Ascenzo included thematic material in the left and right panels in only two of the 3-panel windows. In the others, the side panels consist of symbolic imagery.
