St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Irvington, NY
An historic landmark since 1998, St. Barnabas Church is in one of the many towns along the Hudson River in Westchester County.

"I am the vine and you are the branches"
This window is directly above the altar and faces east. Its total height is twelve feet. Further down the page, an image of the church's exterior shows this window and the four sacristy windows. Artist information is also given further down.
"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Located on the right (south) wall, this window is ten feet tall.
"He is risen, he is not here; behold the place where they laid him."
This window is in the south transept facing west. It is eight feet wide.
The Life of St. Barnabas
Several details from this window appear further down the page. The window is fourteen feet tall, and is located in the south transept, facing south.
The Sermon on the Mount
Identical in size to "He Is Risen," this window is in the north transept facing west.
The Great Commission
This is a depiction of one of Christ's appearances to the disciples after the resurrection. It is on the rear (west) wall of the church and is fourteen feet tall. The antiphonal division of the church's pipe organ is mounted directly below it.

The modified Gothic structure, with Norman-style tower, was dedicated in 1853. The church was completed in 1864. The east wall and part of the south wall are visible from the main street. The "I am the Vine" window and the four sacristy windows are visible, as noted earlier.
In the Luke Chapel, on the north side of the nave, six prominent saints are pictured in pairs. Each of the three windows is six feet in height.
Sts. John and Luke
Sts. Paul and Barnabas
Sts. Peter and Andrew
This is the exterior wall of the Luke Chapel.
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
This magnificent depiction of the Nativity is also on the north wall of the church.
"Blessed are the pure in heart"
This window depicts one of the eight Beatitudes, and like "Gloria in Excelsis Deo", is six feet tall and is on the north side of the church.
Virgin Mary with Christ Child
The next three windows, as well as 'Virgin Mary with Christ Child,' are located on the south side of the church. They receive full sun throughout the year. By clicking the plus sign in the lower right corner, they can be viewed in the center of the screen.

Artist Information
Several stained glass artists are represented at St. Barnabas Church. A newly published (2008) book by church historian Carolyn Stifel, "The Church of St. Barnabas: Its History and Windows," reveals seven known artistic sources for all but four of the windows. There are four windows in the sacristy, designed in pairs. The two windows below are on the east wall of the church, close to the southeast corner. The text begins in the left panel and continues in the right: "Lord, Jesus, come and be our guest, our morning joy and evening rest."

The remaining pair of sacristy windows is on the south wall, also near the southeast corner of the church. The text concludes with: "And with our daily bread impart thy love and peace in every heart."
